Leadership isn’t tested when things are going your way. It’s tested when they aren’t.

One thing that stood out to me while reading Napoleon Hill this morning was this: leadership isn’t about controlling other people—it’s about controlling yourself.

Can you adapt to changing circumstances without losing your poise?

Can you be persistent without becoming stubborn?

Can you have standards without losing your self-control?

Can you address behavior without attacking the person?

Hill says enduring leaders possess tact, patience, persistence, self-confidence, and the ability to “change the color of their mind” to fit changing circumstances.

The more I think about it, the more I believe leadership is earned through self-mastery.

People don’t follow titles.

They follow examples.
