I was talking to a new salesperson who was coming off of his first month in sales...

When I asked him how did, he he told me that he had to stop thinking like his old job...

In his previous job he was a recruiter in the military & he had to sell young men & women on a better future...

“You still are,” I told him...

You’re recruiting customers on a better future. You’re painting a picture of what things could look like if they continue on what they’re using...

Or they can elect to go with you & have a better future of safety, reliability, & service from you.

You’re still selling futures...

Don’t discard your old jobs for your new one...

There are assets from the past that you can apply now...

In the past...

I was a radio DJ: It helped me speak better

I was a personal trainer: I learned how to work one on one

Surveillance taught me how to read body language...

I even worked at the Holiday Inn & learned how to balance the books.

Put your past to work...but also max out whatever job you’re working at now. Even if you’re not being paid for it, soak it all in because what doesn’t pay today will pay huge in the future.
