Assumptions won’t lead to options

When I was hired into sales, the 1rst piece of advice that I got was, "Don't assume anything."

Don't assume you know who's a buyer and who's a liar.

Don't assume you know if they'll put more money down or take a vehicle with less equipment or higher miles.

Think how costly assumptions are to you.

Priceless...

Experience coupled with assumptions leads to frustration and frustration leads to stress.

Think about the times you're stressed out. You're stressed because you've made an appraisal of how your current situation will end catastrophically.  You lead with statements such as, "If this month keeps going like this..." "If they don't lift the restrictions, here's how it'll play out. " If that's not the truth you seek, then why assume that is your only option?

That's one idea...how many more can you find?

When you're anxious you can't see your options. Stay curious.

Michael Gervais put it best, "Curiosity is inoculation to anxiety." How curious are you when you're stressed out? Think of inoculation as small doses of curiosity injected into various scenarios throughout your day.

Instead of making statements, ask questions.
"That'll never work," gets injected instead with, "What if we tried this?"

Be confident in your options even when you're uncertain of the results.

If all you see is assumptions then all you'll get are the results of those assumptions. But imagine what would happen FOR you if all you saw were options?

How much different will your life be?
Experience + Assumptions = Dead ends
Experience + Curiosity = higher quality results.
Ask...don't say. It's in the ask that you'll move past your fear and find your truth. You can't find your truth in assumptions...but you'll damn sure find it in curiosity.

Never settle, keep selling your way through life no matter what.
