It's a good thing you're not an overnight success. | S.5 Ep. 3

It's a good thing you're not an overnight success. | S.5 Ep. 3

It's good that you're not an overnight sensation because that would mean you'd be susceptible to being annihilated overnight, too.

Imagine if the minute to took a drink, ate a triple meat burger, or spoke ill-fated words, you dropped dead.

Good or bad, impact takes time. When you're off track, Life gives you nudges of time to get it back on track. Be thankful but also be thankful when your hard work doesn't pay off because it gives you time to perfect your craft and increase the capacities needed to shoulder the success you so desperately want.

You know, when it comes to something benefiting our lives, it's like we don't have time for time, right? But when it comes to something significantly impacting our lives, or , or we're grateful for time, then see when it comes to the benefits, we want the benefits right now. You want the degree right now? You want to be a millionaire right now. You want to earn six figures right now. You want to be a top producer right now. You want the perfect relationship right now. You won't, , the dream house right now, you want a better body right now. And I get that. But also you've gotta think about the things that have impacted your life. And thank God those things happened over time. See, it's the overtime has saved. Think about all of the things that could have happened to you that did not see. If you don't want the things to happen to you instantly, then the things that happened for you, that's not gonna be instant either. What if your life was like that ever? A credit report? . So you're going along in life, you got good credit, and you forget to make the JC Penny credit card payment one time. One time dude, and you drop a hundred points. You go from getting prime rates to all of the sudden you've got some risk involved. What if everything that you put into your nose, everything that you put into your mouth, every act that you did, every word that you said, what if that one. That one time you drank that beer, that one time you ate that triple meat burger, what if you would've bit into it and would've dropped you dead? It's what happened to you over time that grace it gave you that margin, that cushion to get yourself together. See, it took life nudging me and then it took life kind of rib me in the side. And then finally, it took life, raking me across the coals and said, This is your last time, or I'm going to wipe you out. I'm grateful for the things that happened over time. , but see if you're grateful for those things that happened to you over time, that they'd even wipe you out right then and there, then you've also gotta be appreciative of all the things that happened for you over time. I get that you want it, but if you got those things right then and there, you wouldn't even know how to handle 'em anyway. See, it's the journey along the way that equips you over time, that gets you ready. And that does mean that you fail. It does mean that you reach dead ends and that you reach detours and that you get frustrated. It does mean. But they're happening for you. And sometimes, we interpret that it's happening to us. Stewart Scott, one of my favorite ESPN anchors, he died at an early age, of cancer, left two daughters behind. He said, who am I to judge the good and the bad? Because if I'm gonna take the good, then I've gotta also take the bad too. See, I can't have one thing and not the other. Just keep investing I get the fact that you want the good to happen, instantly. But if you're grateful for the things that happen to you over time, then you've also gotta be appreciative of things that happen for you over time. Hey, before we go, if you missed the previous episode, here's just a little bit of what we talked about. You've got original down pat. Pretty much every single day is a carbon copy of Original over and over and over again. But how much originality do you have peppered into your day? And originality are things that are happening way out there. They're pulses, They're what I call silent shifts, and they're starting to take form, yet are so faint, nobody's even asking for it. If you'll learn to spot these and start working on these areas, Just a little bit. You're gonna have a huge advantage over everybody else.
